Hing
Hing (asafoetida) is a resin, and it is often diluted with flour or gum. Crystal hing is easy to grind or dissolve for daily cooking. Resin is the raw lump with the strongest aroma. Check any hing, ours included, with the tests below.

Questions
How accurate are the home hing tests?
They are quick indicators. A clear fail is a good reason to doubt a pack, but only a lab report can confirm purity. That is why we publish batch reports.
How should I store hing?
Keep it in an airtight glass or steel jar, away from moisture and sunlight. Its smell travels, so store it apart from other spices.
How do I use crystal or resin hing?
Crush a pea-sized piece, or dissolve it in a little warm water first, then add a small spoonful of the solution to hot ghee or oil.
